The Lord Is My Shepherd
This meditation is based on a passage for November 21, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: Psalm 23
Reflection and Question: The Twenty-Third Psalm is among the best known passages in the Bible. It is a lovely poem expressing trust in God. Though I have found it difficult to memorize — I can’t get the “green pastures,” “still waters” and “right paths” in the right order — I do find that phrases from this psalm rise into my mind when I am in stressful situations. They make God’s care for me very present and accessible. And there are many hymn settings of this psalm (here’s one). When has the 23rd Psalm comforted you?
